Swede-O Universal Thumb Spica
The Swede-O® Universal Thumb Spica provides comfortable support and gentle compression to help relieve pain and discomfort associated with injured or aching thumbs. This brace significantly reduces motion of the Metacarpophalangeal (MP) joint, Carpometacarpal (CMC) joint, and Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) to help prevent hyperextension and promote healing.
The 6" malleable splint provides comfortable positioning and stabilizes the thumb. Made from aluminum, this support places the thumb in a neutral position and allows the thumb to rest by minimizing motions that may aggravate nerves, tendons, or ligaments.
The low profile design allows full use of fingers and the adjustable thumb and wrist closures offer easy application and a custom fit. The material is soft and comfortable against the skin; bilateral design fits right or left thumb.
Instruction of Use:
Product is packaged for support to the right thumb. To use support on the left thumb, remove aluminum splint, invert fabric on thumb loop and reinsert stay. Step 1: Loosen all straps and slide thumb into thumb hole, so tip of thumb is slightly exposed. Support should drape over back of hand.
Step 2: Place hook and loop tabs to fit brace to any size wrist.
Step 3: Use 8" hook and loop strap to gently pull thumb into a comfortable, neutral position. Support should fit snugly, yet comfortably. Note: If fabric around thumb extends too far and obstructs use of fingertip, excess fabric may be trimmed using sharp scissors. Support should fit snugly, yet comfortably.
